    Description

Budweiser Printers Watermark Die Block Metal 1933
Die is marked Thor PGH STAMP CO. and dated 5-33
Measures about 5 5/8" in Length and 1 7/16" Wide.  When laying down it is about 1/2" Tall not including the raised lettering.
Die weighs in at 1 Lb 3 ounces and is made of solid metal.  A magnet does stick to it.
The inside of both the letting and stars are recessed.
I was told that this die was used by the Hammermill Paper Company in their process of putting watermarks on a company's letterhead or stationery paper.  I was told the process involved pouring a sort of liquid rubber onto the die and when cooled it was peeled off and used to make watermarks during the printing process?  I cannot confirm this but it does seem different than normal print dies.
